Loud and Fast

drone side

This was a good learning project. I did some research, bought the parts I liked the most, and assembled this FPV quadcopter in 2014, before the easier kits. Along the build, I learned how these things fly, and a bit more about electronics and motor control.

Once it was built, I experimented with the PID control settings until it felt like a well-tuned flying machine! I got to use a large net enclosure at work after hours to do the tuning, and I flew it outside a few times.

Flying FPV is fun! Almost like assembling a watch, it feels entering a different world when the goggles go on. You can have a different relationship to the surroundings because you can move fast, and in all directions.

I enjoyed flying a couple times outside, but with the changes in drone laws, and the animals and people in my neighborhood, I decided to sell it. The best part was the building anyway.

I used a Naze32 with Cleanflight. A Lumenier carbon frame. Fatshark optics. 3S LiPo.
