Extra brass rod, a drill, a clamp, pliers, and a some paracord. I’ve seen things like this and wanted to make my own one night.

The whole system is a little counter intuitive, but the unexpected part for me is that it snaps into the tension position. Everything can be loose, and once you bring it into tension, it holds itself there like a bi-stable mechanism.

It’s a simple tensegrity system.
